FREQUENTLY ASKED
Questions, answered.
Buying a half beast is a considered purchase. Below are the questions we get asked most often. If yours isn’t here, email us — we read everything.
What freezer space do I need?
A half beast takes up roughly 200 litres of freezer space — about the size of a standard chest freezer or a large upright freezer drawer. We strongly recommend confirming your freezer space before ordering. If you’re tight on room, we can split delivery across two drops.
What cuts come in a half beast?
You receive a balanced mix of premium cuts (eye fillet, scotch fillet, rump, rump cap), everyday cuts (sirloin, roasts, oyster blade), slow-cook cuts (brisket, shin, cheek), plus mince, sausages, and bones. Total weight is around 150kg. You’ll see the full cut list before you order, and we can adjust if you have specific preferences.
How long will the meat last in the freezer?
Vacuum-sealed and stored at -18°C or below, the meat will easily last 12 months. Most families finish theirs in 5–7 months because — let’s be honest — once you start eating it, it disappears.
Can I split a half beast with someone?
Yes. Many of our customers split a half beast between two households (so a quarter each). We can pre-divide the order for you if you let us know at the time of purchase. Just one delivery address per order, though — you and your friend sort out the handover.
When do I need to order by?
We process cattle on a rolling schedule from June to December. Order at least 4–6 weeks before you want delivery. Christmas orders close in early November — once they’re gone, they’re gone.
What if I’m outside the delivery zone?
Email us. We deliver as far as we sensibly can, and for orders of two or more half beasts, we can often arrange longer-distance freight. Otherwise, farm pickup is always free.
Is it really fullblood Wagyu?
Yes. We can show you the genetic certification on request. "Fullblood" means 100% Wagyu genetics with verified pedigree, not the more common Wagyu × Angus crossbreed sold as "Wagyu" in most supermarkets.
Do you feed anything other than grass?
Yes, in addition to pasture grasses (fresh in summer and a mixture of fresh and baled in winter) we feed a range of snacks to our cattle to improve handling. What you see in our videos of happy friendly cattle is many months of "afternoon snacks" which can be a handful of grain or a few cups of molasses. This allows us to check the cattle daily to ensure they are happy and healthy. (Afternoon snacks consist of less than 500gm of grain per head per day)
